Scavenging

After a battle you may send your units on a scavenging mission, to gather resources from the battlefield - soldiers who die in battle will leave behind a certain number of resources, depending on their training cost. Dead soldiers leave behind approximately 10-15% of the resources used in their training. When you scavenge resources, you will scavenge the different resource types in equal amounts - e.g., if there is 20,000 of each resource on the field, and your army can carry a total of 10,000 resources, you will receive 2,500 of each of Iron, Gold, Food, and Wood. Note, scavenging marches can NOT be motivated for carry-weight.

Along with resources, there may be wounded soldiers left on the battlefield. The wounded will be approximately 10-15% of the number of units that fell in the battle. Those soldiers can be healed and then persuaded to join your army. Healing soldiers is only possible if there are more than 200 units left wounded, after the battle - and, of course, you must have a Hospital. Note that certain races may heal wounded soldiers when there are only 150 injured units on the field. Healing is automatically done by sending out a scavenging march. The type of unit healed does not depend on the type of unit sent on the march - and you will only gain Infantry units, through scavenging/healing.
