A Guide for the New Player

Once you get in to the main game you will be presented with an advisor, who will assist you through your settlement's initial stages. While you are still level 0 you cannot be attacked, so it is a prime time to construct the buildings you will require to generate resources - Iron Mines, Gold Mines, Lumbermills, and Farms. To grow your population, you should construct Homes, to house more people. As you get closer to level 1 it is a good idea to build Guard Stations, which can defend some of your precious resources should the enemy attempt to strike at you. You can see your current level at the top of the screen, in the centre - see the Interface section of the guide for more info.

When you are in a position to begin building up your army, remember that all units have their strengths and weaknesses. Pikemen, for example, are strong against Cavalry - whereas Axemen are strong versus Infantry. Swordsmen are generally well-balanced warriors and, while Archers may not have much health, they deal hefty damage - and can be protected by your Cavalry and Infantry. Generally you shouldn't worry too much about an opponent's Wizards in the beginning, as Wizards are unable to harm any of your buildings that are below level 5.

To help you fully understand the game, there are a few pages within this guide - outlined below - that would make for some excellent initial reading:

Once you have a basic grip on the game mechanics, you should try reading the other pages of this guide in the order in which they appear on the side-bar.
